Match Report

Inter Macc Giants 3 - 3 - Queensgate Juniors (Draw)

A great start to the game saw the opponents pinned in their own box for nearly the whole of
the 1st half. We went 1-0 up when there keeper fumbled a shot which allowed Alex to score
a classic poachers goal, an easy tap in. We appeared to be cruising to a high scoring
victory, with the whole team working hard from Dom at the back snuffing out any attacks
and the rest of the team running their socks off. Then the opponents broke with a lucky
counter attack one of the only ones they had in the half and their striker scored with a good
finish. We came into the break clearly in full control of the game, in the second half it was
like 2 completely different teams had turned up. Queensgate seemed much more
motivated and full of energy and we seemed the complete opposite, not up for the game
without the same drive and passion we had in the 1st half. However Liam and Billy kept us
going in the middle sprinting all around the pitch putting in 100% tackling passing and
shooting, brilliant from them 2. We then went 2-1 up still not playing very well after a
fantastic solo goal from Liam who made a brilliant tackle sprinted down the wing took on a
player then blasted a screamer from well outside the area. We then sat back and lost
concentration which allowed the opposition to go 3-2 up. I was very disappointed by this
and it looked like we were going to lose the game. We then relied on Billy to save our skins
in the dying minutes with fantastic determination and strength where he managed
to break through 3 tackles on a run then scored with a composed finish. Man of the match
could have gone to either Billy or Liam who both worked equally as hard as each other. I
gave it to Liam as he played a full game in both games with a none stop performance even
when the rest of the team seemed to have given up in the second game. Well done to both
of you. 
 
In the second game we lost Billy and Alex which obviously weakened our side but this did
not mean we should stop playing. The only player on the pitch working at the required
standard was Liam, the other players seemed as if they didn't want to be on the pitch. This
was not good to watch and we will be working hard at training to improve our concentration
throughout both 2 games.

Details for next game

No game next week as the team we were supposed to be playing have pulled out of the
league, I would usually arange a friendly but unfortunately can't make it as I am playing in a
cup match myself for college. So it will be training at normal time with Paul and Kyle at the
rugby club.
