Q. Why is the subscription to Inter Macc JFC so expensive?
A. We are aware that our price is higher than others for those in teams
(although the cost of the Academy for training sessions is much lower)
and there are two main reasons for this:
1. We have a maximum limit on the number of players in each team
(the playing number + 3 reserves) to allow each player to have a
good amount of playing time in each match.
2. We use professional coaches who study the teams and individual
players on match days to enable them to correct problems during
the following training sessions.
Q. Why does the season start so early?
A. May & June are used for the managers to sort out their teams so they
are ready to go at the beginning of September (July & August will be
holiday months) rather than using the first few matches of the season
to do this.
Q. How are players chosen for the teams?
A. The managers will choose them from the Academy. The selection
process will be completed in May and January, for the first and second
parts of the season respectively, and may be at the start of the month,
if the manager knows the player or after the first training sessions if the
manager wants to assess players first.
Q. Does the £20 Academy annual fee get refunded if the player is taken
into a team?
A. Any player taken into a team in May will have the £20 Academy fee
and any training fees paid in May deducted from the £140 team fee.
Any player taken into a team in January, having joined in the first part
of the season, will have the £20 Academy fee and any training fees
aid in January deducted from the £140 team fee.
Any player joining the Academy in January and taken into a team in
January will have the Academy fee and any training fees paid in
January deducted from the £140 team fee.
Q. Is the Academy annual fee reduced for players joining late in the
season?
A. Any player joining the Academy in January, or later in the season, will
pay a reduced fee of £10.
Q. Is he Academy annual fee still required for players dropped from teams
in January?
A. Any player dropped from a team into the Academy in the January
transfer window will just have to pay the training fees – no Academy
fee would be due.
Q. Who do the Academy members train with?
A. They will train with the teams of their own age group in the week to
enable them to get to know the players and the teams to know them.
They can also train with the rest of the Academy on Saturday mornings.
The £6 training fee will cover all training for the week.
Q. Do the team players get a refund if the matches are called off?
A. All matches, or training sessions and the associated facilities are
arranged in good faith at the beginning of the season and the Club
costs are based on this, so we are unable to offer refunds.
Q. Why do you not use ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams, etc?
A. This system only really works for the ‘A’ team where they have the
security of knowing that a good player will stay in the team, whereas
with the other teams, playing well can get you moved up away from
the team you feel comfortable with. We believe that the children will
only perform to their best ability when they feel secure. The system we
have adopted ensures that good players will get the security they
deserve, but also has the added incentive of allowing players to be
transferred out if they do not perform well.
Q. Who decides which players will go into a team?
A. This is the team manager’s decision.
Q. Can team managers ‘poach’ players from other Inter Macc teams?
A. Team managers are free to talk to all players, but it is entirely up to the
player involved if he wants to leave one team for another – there will
be no formal process to make the player move.
Q. What if a good player from outside the Club wants to join & play
immediately?
A. Obviously all players want to play immediately and they would be
welcomed into the Academy where they may be offered matches as
a replacement until the next transfer window, when they could be
taken into a team. We are committed to having a maximum limit on
the number of players in each team to ensure all players will have a
reasonable time playing in the matches, therefore the teams do not
normally operate with vacancies, but the Academy always has
availability. We have to strike a balance between the stability of the
teams for the players already in them and the ability to accept new
players into the teams and we believe that with two transfer windows a
year and the active role of the Academy we will have achieved this
most of the time.
Q. What happens if the manager can only get 8 players for a match –
does he have to call on two others out of the Academy?
A. How many substitutes are used is up to the manager – he has to weigh
the risk. If he does take one or two he will then be committed to giving
them a reasonable share of the playing time as with the existing team
members. This is a good opportunity for managers to assess potential
new players ahead of the transfer windows.
Q. If a player gets dropped from a team into the Academy is he ever likely
to play in a team again?
A. All players, particularly at these ages, go through good times and bad
times. The function of the Academy is to help to rectify the type of
problems that resulted in the player being dropped in the first place,
thus making him better equipped to rejoin a team. The decision on
whether or not he is able to rejoin his old team or is taken up by
another team rests with the respective team managers.
Q. What happens if the Academy has enough players of a certain age
group to form another team?
A. Good – we will look at forming another team, but we can only do this
at the beginning of the season as the teams have to be registered with
the FA and we would have to sort out a new manager and coach.
