Match Report

Inter Macc Eagles 0 – 4 Whaley Bridge (Lost)

Saturday saw Eagles travel to a cold and frosty Whaley Bridge, lookingto get back on track
after last week's cup exit.

The match began with both teams giving nothing away, and Eagles lookedfairly
comfortable with the back four of Joe Carroll, Jimmy Aked, HarrySilcock and Shane Power
coping well with Whaley attacks. Around fifteenminutes in, Whaley managed to make the
breakthrough with a fine leftfoot shot which keeper Harry Cardwell was unlucky not to save.
Eaglesresponded as Jake Roberts and Josh Harrison started causing moreproblems
upfront. Unfortunately for the Eagles, a quick break by Whaleysaw them double their lead
thanks to indecision in the Eagles penaltyarea. Again Eagles responded, and looked
threatening every time they hada corner or free kick in the Whaley half, with Carroll
delivering someexcellent balls into the box. From one such situation, a mad scramble inthe
Whaley box saw Power come agonizingly close to pulling one back, only to be denied by
the home keeper.

Eagles had made two changes for the second half with Owen Carr and WillJames
replacing the hard working pair of Richard Kilpatrick and JimmyAked. The half started in
similar fashion to the first with Eagles nowlooking to take advantage of the sloping pitch.
They appeared to bewinning the midfield battle, as Bau Bailey and Ollie Andrews began
towin more tackles, but, in the blink of an eye Eagles lost the ball in anattacking position,
and a few seconds later Cardwell was picking the itout of his goal. Manager and coach still
don't know how Eagles managedto turn one of their attacks into a Whaley goal!

To their credit Eagles came back at Whaley, forcing a number of corners.Unfortunately, the
ball would just not break for Eagles, and to sum upthe team's luck at the moment, Whaley
broke away to score a fourth andrub salt into the wound! Still Eagles did not give up, and
from anotherset piece, Power was unlucky to see a powerful shot rise just over thebar.

The match ended with Whaley coming out on top 4 nil.
